Doing more yoga than I ever have. Cooking more than I ever have. Writing music. Doing instrumental arrangements for Peter Gabriel and Playing for Change. Her compositions, arrangementsj, and collaborative experiments with other artists often revolve around fusing classical sounds with varied folk traditions and electronic palettes to create a unique “uneasy listening” experience. But what this force sedentary period afforded me was to be able to focus on some other creative projects and family. First there was the publication of my second children's illustrated book that is in English and Yiddish, secondly I have been busy composing for a piece for multiple voices and strings for the Pro Arte Singers, thirdly I have been working on a new script for a play about Marc Chagall to be workshopped at the SD REP Theatre in October, fourthly I am working on a photo exhibition for the Jewish Museum in Cluj, Romania and fifthly I have gotten used to running in the mornings at 5:30am so I can avoid the public.Family wise my daughter, wife and I have enjoyed hours of music jamming, conversation, (often focused on politics) cooking, walking and just hanging out. <image:caption>Meet DAP members Aja Randall, Damara Vita Ganely and Patricia West guest performers in LITVAKdance’s Spring 2019 Performance: “Aja was one of the first dancers I worked with when I moved back to San Diego 18 years ago. I loved her spunk and playfulness. We reconnected about a year ago, and shortly thereafter she introduced me to Patricia who is a longtime member of Joe Goode Dance Group in San Francisco. The two of them were a whirlwind of energy and I invited them to teach a class for me at UCSD. Watching them co-teach I knew they were onto something and I invited them to perform on our spring concert this year with their friend and collaborator Damara.” Artistic Director, LITVAKdance " DAP was created out of necessity as the collaborators found themsevles struggling what it meant to be a dancer/dancemaker while also taking on roles like mother, wife, provider and caretaker. The group uses movement as a language of solidarity, resistance and self expression while also considering the dynamics of listening, being heard and yielding while creating with others. DAP uses spoken word, organic movement and song as tools.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>WREN POLANKSY: For roughly two decades Wren has been practicing and teaching art, yoga, and mindfulness meditation. Her formal education includes an MA in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute, graduate study in Contemplative Psychology and Art at Naropa University, and a BA in Studio Art from Scripps College. Wren has worked as an artist and educator for various establishments including the Museum(s) of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, San Diego, La Jolla, and Boulder, Colorado and the Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland, CA, in addition to many public and private schools throughout California. As an artist, Wren has always worked in a broad range of media. One of her most frequently used tools is the camera. Viewing Litvak Dance company members through the lens on location throughout her homeland, North County San Diego, has been particularly fulfilling. Recently, Wren has had the honor of illustrating several books for Shambhala Publications: "The Awakening Body" by Reginald Ray, "The Fourth Trimester" by Kimberly Ann Johnson, and "Hip-Healthy Asana" by Charlotte Bell. Currently, she is working on a series of new mixed-media works inspired by the natural world and the moving body. She is married to a traditional Irish fiddling cheese expert and is a devoted mother of two busy little boys. She loves making custom, meaningful works, and is available for commissions. She can be found at: www.wrenpolansky.com or e-mail wrenpolansky@gmail.com. Photo: Wren Polansky</image:caption>

      <image:title>Guest Choreographers - Eric Geiger</image:title>
<image:caption>Eric Geiger: I dance and make dances in an attempt to make sense of the world around me. I am a full-time faculty member at UCSD, in the Department of Theatre and Dance, where the courses I guide question what dance is and can be. Early on, I received a full merit scholarship to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, intensively studying the techniques of Martha Graham, Lester Horton, and Ballet. I was a company member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company (as well as teacher and choreographic assistant to Bill), The Lyon Opera Ballet (performing works by artists such as William Forsythe, Stephen Petronio, Susan Marshall, Maguy Marin, and Angelin Preljocaj), and McCaleb Dance, directed by Nancy McCaleb (eventually becoming the Associate Artistic Director). I want to dance forever, so I became interested in continuing my dance training and practices by seeking ways of moving with greater efficiency and sustainability. Contact Improvisation, Trisha Brown-like qualities, Deborah Hay’s questions and choreography, and somatic approaches to dancing has transformed and expanded my movement capacities. As a Feldenkrais Method practitioner, I have come to understand how to move using only as much effort as needed, moment to moment. As a dancemaker, I am a collaborator. I’ve made dances with Anya Cloud, Karen Schaffman, Liam Clancy, Leslie Seiters and my most frequent collaborator and partner Jess Humphrey. Photo Credit: Self Portrait</image:caption>

      <image:title>Guest Choreographers - sol dela rosa</image:title>
<image:caption>Navigating the abyss, sol (previously known as Jaime Nixon) moved through time and their lives through queer love and loss, within color and always in a style of play. Play as a motive to learn, and as a means of sourcing passion. Passion as a driving force for compassion and community. Sol is grateful for the skills, lessons; and autonomy they have been gifted by the guidance of the San Diego City College Dance Department and the artist and staff of London Contemporary Dance School. Play is the foundation to sol’s class. Incorporating play as a way of exploring our bodies, creative minds, our environment, and our world. Through functional movements we will play with our bodies range of motion, degrees of effort, balance and begin self discovery. Moving from the floor to standing we will dance with gravity and organize through space, movement sequences, and through each other as a community.</image:caption>
